Abstract

This research presents the effects that a series of activities accompanied by manipulative material have on the classifications of quadrilaterals carried out by students with visual disabilities. This is a qualitative study, by means of a case study, with the participation of four students with total blindness between 10 and 12 years. In this experience we show that blind students develop a process equivalent to the visualization process by manipulating 3D representations of quadrilaterals and, through processes of abstraction, construct definitions by identifying the characteristics of objects and perform partition classifications.
