EL TRATADO HISPANO-MARROQUÍ DE AMISTAD Y COMERCIO DE 1767 EN EL PUNTO DE MIRA DEL TRADUCTOR (I). CONTEXTUALIZACIÓN HISTÓRICA: ENCUENTRO Y DESENCUENTROS

Abstract

Thís is the first of three articles we basically devote to analyze the Treaty of Friendship and Commerce between Spain and Morocco, 1767, from the perspective of Translatology and History of Translation. In this first part a contextualization of the Treaty is proposed: surrounding events, historical meaning and disagreements which arose from it. Regarding disagreements, we insist on: Spain's territories in North Africa and Moroccan acceptation or contestation of its sovereignity therein, with special reference to the siege of Melilla (1774-1775), and the process of decolonization of the Western Sahara. In the second and third parts, that we hope to publish in the next numbers of Sendebar, we determine the extent to which Translatology and History of Translation can clarify all these points.
