Information For Reviewers

1. Internal or Preliminary Evaluation (Editorial Team)

This initial stage is carried out by the editorial team and aims to verify compliance with the journal’s formal and thematic requirements before proceeding to external review.

Steps of the Internal Process:

  • The manuscript is checked for adherence to PORTA LINGUARUM’s editing and style guidelines.

  • The content is assessed for relevance and alignment with the journal’s thematic focus.

  • If the manuscript presents formal deficiencies or lacks thematic alignment, the authors will be notified to make the necessary modifications.

  • If a revised version is not submitted within the indicated timeframe or the required corrections are not made, the manuscript will not be considered for publication.

  • The editorial team issues a report with recommendations for the authors, if necessary.

  • If the manuscript meets the established criteria, it proceeds to external evaluation.

2. External Evaluation or Peer Review (External Reviewer)

Once the internal evaluation is successfully completed, the manuscript undergoes an external review process under a double-blind system, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers.

2.1 External Evaluation Process

  • The manuscript is sent to at least two expert reviewers in the field.

  • The reviewers assess aspects such as originality, scientific relevance, clarity of writing, methodological rigor, and the adequacy of the title and abstract to the article’s content.

  • Reviewers complete the evaluation form available on the OJS 3.3 platform.

  • If there is a discrepancy between the reports (one positive and one negative), a third evaluation will be requested. If two or more reviewers reject the manuscript, the decision will be final, and the authors will be notified.

  • If publication with revisions is recommended, the authors will have 15 days to make the necessary corrections and justify the adjustments made or not made.

  • If the manuscript is accepted without changes, the authors will be notified within 5 days through OJS.

  • External reviewers will be publicly acknowledged through the periodic publication of their names and institutional affiliations. Upon request, they will receive a certificate signed by the journal’s editorial board.

2.2 Review Process in OJS 3.3

  • The review process is conducted via the OJS 3.3 platform.

  • Log in with your credentials to access the manuscript.

  • Complete the review form available in OJS 3.3.

  • Indicate the strengths and weaknesses of the work, suggesting specific improvements.

2.3 Writing the Review Report

  • Conduct a detailed analysis of the manuscript and provide guidance for its improvement.

  • If modifications are required, clearly specify the aspects that need to be addressed.

  • You may include references or suggestions to enhance the manuscript.

  • The report should be written in a manner suitable for direct delivery to the authors.

  • The reviewer’s identity will remain confidential.

2.4 Submission and Follow-up

  • The evaluation form must be submitted within the established deadline, which will not exceed one month from the review request.

  • If necessary, the reviewer may be contacted for clarifications or additional revisions.

2.5 Confidentiality and Transparency

  • The entire evaluation process is confidential.

  • Objectivity, impartiality, and the absence of bias are expected throughout the review.
