Abstract

This study shows the scope of a workshop that promotes the competence Noticing from the theoretical notions of the model MTSK. It takes into consideration what a group of mathematics teachers in service expresses when they analyze a teaching-learning scenario on the mathematical concept of relation from their teaching experience in Costa Rican secondary education, prior to the workshop, and after the training process. The results show progress in the development of this competence. However, some of the participants show difficulties to identify relevant aspects of the analyzed situation such as propositions that define a concept, ways of proceeding in mathematics, and elements of a school mathematical task.
