The article is focussed on counserlors' career development. Historical perspectives of counselors training are considered as well as some training models such as traditional, competency based, reflexive, humanistic, counseling based and a few other models. The author deals with the problematical issue of designing education curricula for counselors, that is closely depending on the theoretical asumptions of the training model suported in a professional or political context. Nevertheless the author offers a proyect for counselor staff development taking into account data from a research carried out by Watt in 1992 on 36 counselor professions all over the EU. The project handels the context constraints (needs, functions and competencies of counseling and guidance personnel) and draw a program for counselors training and in service counselors development and supervision.Downloads
