Abstract

The  work  of  translators  is  no  longer  restricted  to  texts  on  paper.  New communicative scenarios have appeared resulting from technological advances, where audiovisual documents and multimedia contents play a crucial role in the transfer of information. It is our assertion that translators must make the attempt to deliver their texts to a larger audience. Accordingly, web accessibility has become a key concept which, in our opinion, should form part of a holistic training of translators-to-be in the new degree in Translation and Interpreting, within the framework of the European Higher  Education Area.  In  this  paper,  we  propose  a  series  of  activities  based  on students’ self-training, with the aim of introducing accessibility into the translation classroom.
