ANÁLISIS Y TRADUCCIÓN DE LA UNIDAD «ET» EN TEXTOS POLÍTICOS

Abstract

This paper aims to study the relevance of the element «et» in the construction of meaning in a text through a discourse analysis and a translation study. The discourse analysis enables to appreciate the main semantic-pragmatic values of «et» in a corpus made up of polítical texts and the discoursive structures which appear more frequently. This element is very important in the organization of segments, in the creatíon of rhythmic and persuasive effects and in the crystallization of a specific point of view. The translation study confirms its importance, because when there is an omission of «et» in the Spanish version or it is translated by units with a different value, the pragmatic and stylistic dimensions of the original text, as well as its pointof view, are not fully recreated.
