Resumen

As a result of the poor performance of Andalusian students in linguistic communicative competence in the diagnostic tests conducted by the Andalusian Ministry of Education, and taking into account the scarcity of appropriate writing activities in the textbooks currently used in secondary schools in Andalusia, we present in this article an educational proposal based on the microfunction analysis that aims to improve secondary school students ability to compose texts required by the school curriculum. The effectiveness of our proposal has been tested by the assessment of the texts composed by 40 third-year secondary school students at two Andalusian schools.
