Delimitation of the didactic field of the Physical Education and of their scientific activity

Abstract

Physical education, as a cultural object transmitted in the school, could play an important role within the school curriculum as it contributes to fully integrate people. Being aware that around curricular subjects have been conformed a scientific activity, in similar terms with Physical Education it is possible to build an ideological and research framework which studies its school practice through teaching and learning processes, its curriculum, and the training and professional development of the teaching staff. Physical education didactics will be the one responsible for the didactic research in this field.

This article frames the field of didactic research, considering the epistemological character of Physical Education area that has been consolidating as an academic and research field with the aim of improving the didactic knowledge and professional practice. Through an analysis of the literature on specific didactics and the literature related to Physical Education didactics, we have been able to argue this field of knowledge, establish its scientific field, presenting the research objectives and the more relevant works carried out in the different Spanish universities.
