Abstract

In this paper we analyze the concept of Pluricultural competence in the reference documents for teaching languages in the European context, in particular, the Common European Framework for Languages, its precision for Spanish in the Plan Curricular del Instituto Cervantes, and the recent extension of the first one in the Companion Volumen with new Descriptors. We also consider the presence and the treatment of this competence in current handbooks for SFL; and finally, some suggestions are offered for its implementation in class.
