Abstract

The principal objective of this study is to analyse the profile of German-Spanish translation students, mainly in relation to the subject of Interpreting. The data obtained could prove useful for the design of course itineraries in Translation and Interpreting Studies, taking into account the origin and needs of such students and their context. The  article  offers  an  analysis  of the  responses  of German-Spanish  translation  stu- dents to a series of questions related to the following aspects: (1) language level; (2) perspectives on interpreting;  (3) translator and interpreter training in general. After a discussion  of the results,  we present  conclusions  regarding  Interpreting  and its role in the new programme  for university  studies in Translation  and Interpreting.
