Resumo

In this article, there are presented several important aspects of a research done on both young and old people. The research was carried as a part of a proyect of Intergenerational Education. The objective of the project is to have a deep knowledge and understanding of the elderly to enhance the socio-educative interventions and approachs to this group. 230 people have been tested for this sample, 129 of which are elderly and 101 young people. All the subjects have been classified using Rosenberg's Scale of Self-esteem and Neugarten's Index of Vital Satisfaction. The results show that the levels of self-esteem and vital satisfaction (self realization) decline as the age goes up.
