Résumé
The paper analyses the existing relationship between parents and school in Mexican high schools, pointing out insufficient parent participation in academic project planning. Despite the formally accepted parent participation in educational projects, parents, in reality, act as spectators or school clients and do not get involved in the fundamental issues of their children fostering. Parents generally accept whatever deci sions teachers make and this lack of parental
involvement constitutes one of the factors that bear heavily on poor scholastic performance among high school students.
