Life stories: Perspectives and experiences about school exclusion and inclusion
Keywords:
life history/story, student voice, school exclusionAbstract
In order to contribute to a more complete understanding of school exclusion and measures in response to it, this article attempts to open a space for student voices and perspectives evolved from their experiences. Firstly, reasons that justify the need of such a view when researching educational phenomena are subject to clarification. We distinguish between technical relevance of student voice and perspectives and its legitimating relevance. Next, the methodological approach used in our research project (i.e. life story) is outlined and discussed. Finally, some findings from students' experiences of their school trajectories (as reconstructed by students themselves) are reported and illustrated.Downloads
