Rural schools in the globalized society: New directions for a silenced reality

Abstract
In this article, the authors try to delve into the socio-cultural and educational context of the rural
school in the XXI century, reflecting on the bases of their survival in our present globalized
society. In this sense, analyze alternatives for sustainable development in these contexts and,
hence, their schools, based on global development projects. It also emphasizes the important role
schools play in rural context, analyzing in depth the social and educational functions in them. The
article concludes by posing some suggestions for improvements to the rural school
