Abstract

The exercise of citizenship is one of the key indicators that show the quality of our democracies. Currently, the vast majority of citizens do not doubt that democracy is the best political form of organization, but although democratic political models prevail, there is a lack of education, and social and civic competences among the students are not sufficiently developed. The paper analyses, from an interpretive perspective and based on the methodology used in the Project MANES, how is transferred participatory political culture and the elements composing it in the textbooks of Education for citizenship and human rights in the secondary education mandatory
