Abstract

This article aims to show the potential of social networks in education, as prolongation of the impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education. In particular, the main purpose of this article is to provide guidance and counseling to teachers beginning to experiment with social networks in the educational context, providing key ideas about how to build a virtual educational environment model which prioritizes facilitating interactions cooperation and gender equality. It also presents coeducational experiences made by other professionals who serve as examples of good practice in the use of technology and web 2.0 in the context of formal education to promote gender equality.
