Abstract

This study is based on the framework of project Teon XXI. The aim of the project was to research the use of ICT in the field of coeducation. In this context our aim is to develop an observational scale to assess coeducational best practices. We consider this evaluation compatible with qualitative methodologies commonly used by our research group. The instrument consists of five criteria or indicators of quality (effectiveness, transformative effect, sustainability, legitimacy, replicability) defined based on key concepts that articulate a graduation between 0 and 4. Four judges assess 10 coeducation’s practices in Andalucía, selected for their significance, using the scale. The results showed an adequate reliability. We conclude the convenience of the constructive process of such scales as a means for reflection on the concept of best practice, its multidimensionality and complexity of definition. We also recommend the disaggregated analysis of the different criteria for evaluation.
