Abstract

In this article, the biographical account of an unaccompaniedforeign minor (MENA), which is currently under the tutelage of theAutonomous City of Melilla, has been addressed. The migration ofthe MENA is a current issue, both nationally and internationally, which increasingly concerns our society. The main objective has been to know through the life trajectory of a MENA, the reasons thatprompted him to migrate to Spain, his stay in Melilla and his futureprospects. In order to do so, the existing literature on the concept, profile, characteristics, reception system and rights of the MENA wasanalyzed, as well as Melilla as a border city for these young people. This bibliography helps to channel the interview about the MENAstory object of the study. From the methodological point of view, aqualitative methodology has been chosen. The participants have beenselected using a non-probabilistic convenience sampling. As datacollection techniques, open semi-structured interviews and systematicobservation were used, through a checklist and the field diary. Finally,it has been concluded that the child has had a childhood of povertyand hardship. This fact and the lack of employment in his hometownwere the main reasons for his migration.
