The purpose of this article is to identify any problems that may arise during subtitling of spoken language and to analyse the treatment of expletives in two different types of subtitles made for the same TV product. The two types of subtitles in question are television subtitles and subtitles made by fans. The studied material consists of one episode of the Spanish TV programme, Serrano Family, and its translations into the Serbian language. The first part of this paper will expound the concepts relevant to this analysis, namely, how subtitles are used on the Internet, the subtitling in Serbia and orality in subtitles. The second part will discuss the analysis, its results and any conclusions it may bring.
