Résumé

This article deals with problems related with the transformation processes of university teaching, based on the analysis of the role and functions of educational consultants recognised as members of a profession assisting the development of these processes. The description of the current situation of universities, the structure of the field of University Pedagogy and Teaching in Argentina, the presentation of a model to analyse the attributes that identify institutional consultants, together with the recognition of the theoretical perspectives that define their actions, are all elements that provide a framework to consider the results of research that has the university educational consultant at its core.
