Educational innovation in Catalonia and Aragon

Abstract

This contribution depicts a partial synthesis of the study carried out between july 2007 and july 2008 and entrusted by the Centro de Investigación y Documentación Educativa (CIDE) of the Ministry of Education in connection with the analysis of educational innovation in Spain, focused in this case, on the projects of innovation promoted from the educational administrations of the autonomous regions of Catalonia and Aragon.
The main objectives of this research are:

• To know about the prior terms that educational establishments required to innovate.
• To determine facilitators and constraints of innovations in their planning, execution and evaluation processes.
• To identify aspects that arouse educative community interest in innovation.

To achieve these goals we have compiled relevant information on the autonomous regions of Catalonia and Aragon through their main actors in innovation processes and a variety of instruments: 116 questionnaires, 4 focus groups and a case study of significance. In the following sections we submit the results obtained, that show the aspects of design, development and effects of the innovation projects, from their main actors’ point of view and related to the intended quality improvement.
