Abstract

This paper is aimed at examining the relevance of the rural environment for the Physical Education
development in Rural Schools. The context where the school is located might be a determining factor
when choosing the educational contents, particularly those related to motor skills. A research on a
case study was carried out in order to understand this reality. The case study is a Grouped Rural
Centre from the Castilian area in Spain, called “Cereal Lands”. This research allows understanding
how the environment in Rural Schools is more than just a place to develop an educational task, and it
becomes the educational key for its approach. These issues are the beginning for analysing the
relevance of using the environment in Physical Education.
