Abstract

A skilled handling of images is a core competence in our society. The relatively wide spread of photographic practice contrasts with rather hesitant photographic educational work that has been on the wane since the beginning of the 1980s. “School photography” does not feature in the current discourse of media education. This is baffling in that the didactic potential of this medium is far from having been exhausted and in view of the widespread currency of mobile phone photography and multimedia developments could be rediscovered.
