Resumen

In this article an analysis about the competences that Primary Teachers must acquire in their initial training period is carried out. Firstly we mention the important link between competences and skills that will be developed with students. It is highlighted too the closed relationship between these competences and the school opening to families and community institutions.
Specific curriculum competences are discussed in more detail in relation to the education planning, contents selection and organization, methods use, techniques and resources, evaluation, communication, teaching and research, reflection, innovation and improvement of teaching. Finally, we develop a series of proposals related to the characteristics to be provided by the training of future teachers to acquire such skills.
