Abstract

The current article gathers the most relevant information about anethnographic study, greater detailed, about a biographical portraitwhich reflects the impact that social, political and religious changeshave had throughout the life of a gay man. The purpose of this researchis to grasp the generational vision of a homosexual male in differentlife stages. It has been used a qualitative methodology, following theinterpretative paradigm, which design is focused on the transcriptionand development of a report that compiles first-person remembrancesfrom childhood to adulthood. The study was composed by a homosexualman who was born in the 1950s in the Autonomous City of Melilla.The selection criteria were the willingness and interest shown by theindividual in participating in the research. The instruments consideredwere an open structured interview, indirect observation, a fieldnotebook and the triangulation of data supported by the participant’syounger sister. By means of the information compiled across the study,the results point out the influence that Francoist regime and Catholicreligion have had in shaping the participant’s identity, and the way hehas developed his homosexuality, especially during his childhood andadolescence.
