About the Journal

Aims and Scope 

The main goal of Impossibilia. Revista Internacional de Estudios Literarios is to promote communication between experts on literary studies, as well as the transfer of knowledge in its broadest sense; it also aims to collaborate in the diffusion of a growing number of original research results, theoretical and technical studies, which are carried out on the basis of four main approaches to literature: literary criticism, literary theory, literary history and comparative literature in dialogue with cultural and feminist studies of any epoch and geography. Original papers preferably written in Spanish, English, and French will be accepted and may be included in the following sections: MONOGRAPHIC, MISCELLANY and BOOK REVIEWS.

Impossibilia is a refereed journal which uses an external peer-review system, unconnected to authors and its institutions.

We receive papers throughout the year. Every year, two calls for papers shall be issued (spring-May and autumn-October) for Monographic section. The afore mentioned calls for papers shall be published on the Call for papers section of Impossibilia. Papers must be original and must not have been published before; at the moment they are submitted, papers should not be in the process of evaluation by other printed or digital media.

Original research articles and book reviews of recently published theoretical works will be accepted.

This journal adopts and adheres to the publishing rules established in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), but including the author’s first name.

Impossibilia is indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index,  Fuente Academica Plus, MLA – Modern Language Association Database, DOAJ, DIALNET, MIAR, DulcineaSJIFactor, SHERPA/RoMEO, SUDOC, EBSCO. COPAC, Redib   WorldCat, Citefactor and evaluated by Directory of Open Access Journals, ERIHPlus, LATINDEX (Catálogo).

Frecuency of publication

Impossibilia. Revista Internacional de Estudios Literarios is a biannual digital publication (30th May and 30th Octuber). It is published since 2011 uninterruptedly every six months by Asociación Cultural Impossibilia, and since 2022 by Universidad de Granada.

Every year, two calls for papers shall be issued (spring and autumn) for Monographic section

We receive papers throughout the year for the sections:

  • Miscellany: This section will include papers dedicated to diverse literary topics, including theoretical, critical, historical and comparative studies.
  • Reviews: A space to comment books on theory, criticism, comparative literature and history of literature.

Basic Conditions of all Call for Papers

The author accepts that sending the paper:

  • Does not guarantee the publication of it.
  • Is done in accordance to the style-sheet of the magazine and the requirements of the specific call for papers.
  •  Implies the transferring of the legal rights of exploitation of the paper under a BY-NC-ND Creative Commons license.

Publication Policy

Papers must be original and must not have been published before; at the moment they are submitted, papers should not be in the process of evaluation by other printed or digital media.

All articles could be sent in .doc, .docx (Microsoft Office Word) or .odt (OpenOffice Write) formats. It must meet the anonymity requirements  and formats according to our instructions detailed in Information for authors.

Peer Review Process

When a paper is received, the Editorial Board define if it meet the requirements of formal criteria, academic and scientific quality  and pertinence. If this is so, The Editorial Board looks for external pairs of reviewers who do not belog to the author's institution or university and without conflict of interests.
The peer review evaluation aims to guarantee objectivity. Evaluators could make suggestions to authors. To help with the evaluation there are qualitative parameters as originality, relevance, methodologic quality and formal criteria.  

The paper could result in Publishable, Rejectable,  Publishable if be modified and New evaluation process.

In case of difference of opinion, a third reviewer should be asked. 

The Editorial Board will communicate in written the result of the evaluation to the authors within six months.

The peer review evaluation aims to guarantee objectivity. Evaluators could make suggestions to authors.

 

Impossibilia guarantees confidentiality of personal data as well as the peer review result until the moment of the publication of the paper.

With the aim of ensuring transparency in the operation of the Impossibilia journal, the evaluation process statistics are published annually.

Open Access Policy

This journal offers free and immediate access to its contents, based on the principle that providing free access to research outcomes favors the global exchange of knowledge. Impossibilia uses the BY-NC-ND de Creative Commons  licence, then, papers could be unloaded and shared on the condition that recognise authorship, but this licence refuses consent for any change or commercial use.

Impossibilia bears article processing charges (APCs) and article submission charges, therefore it has no cost for the authors.

 

Archiving

This journal uses the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among collaborating libraries, enabling them to create permanent archives of the journal for conservation and restoration purposes. Authors are authorized to store their articles in institutional repositories or academic research networks, always complying with the intellectual property regulations referenced in the following section." Intellectual Property

In sending an article to Impossibilia journal, the author:

  • Commits to respecting third party intellectual property rights;

  • Accepts the reproduction and citation of the article for academic purposes, provided the source be explicitly cited.

  • Accepts transfer of the legal rights of exploitation of the paper, as long as it is selected to be published in the journal under a Creative Commons license, for the first edition.

  • Keeps its copyright without restrictions, with the exception of mentioning its previous publication in Impossibilia.
  • Impossibilia permits and suggests to authors to place their accepted papers in open access institutional or digital repositories.

Impossibilia, in due respect to moral rights of a copyright, guarantees that:

  • a. All papers will be evaluated according to the procedure already mentioned.
  • b. All authors will receive either a positive or negative answer to their sending a paper for publication.
  • c. All papers will be published unabridged. The journal might make changes in the typographical disposition according to the needs.
  • d. All papers will be published under a Creative Commons license.

 

Ethical Obligations of the Editorial Board

Impossibilia. Revista Internacional de Estudios Literarios becomes adhered to  Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing and others ethic dispositions of Committe on Publication Ethics (COPE), as well as the European Parliament's Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016.

The following are the ethical criteria that all parties of the editorial process must commit to:

 Ethical Obligations of the Authors

The author must:

-Assume responsibility for the ideas contained the article.

- Be willing to respond when consulted about formal matters or the contents of the article.

 

Ethical Obligations of Peer Evaluators

Peer evaluators must:

- Be objective in their evaluations.

- Manifest in written form if there is a conflict of interests regarding the evaluation of the assigned article or the financing institution.

- Inform the journal if any anomaly that attempts against good publishing practices is detected in the evaluation process,

- To ensure the confidentiality of the information administered to him or her by the journal.


Plagiarism

Plagiarism, conscious or not , is a serious misconduct.

Impossibilia could use any means to check it.

Plagiarism in articles will be penalized by banning authors for two years. It is reminded that plagiarism is the act of reproducing or paraphrasing segments of other authors' works without the corresponding referencing or acknowledgment.

Plagiarism occurs when:

  • Fragments of other people's works are included or used in the paper without quotation marks or reference to the source.
  • Direct copying and pasting from other sources occur without referencing or without indicating that it is a direct quote.
  • Images, tables, or diagrams are included without acknowledging their source.

It is understood that by submitting a paper to Impossibilia, authors guarantee that:

  • The work has not been previously published, nor is it in the process of evaluation or review by another journal or medium of physical or electronic dissemination.
  • They endorse having reviewed and approved the final version of the document.
  • They authorize Impossibilia to conduct an anti-plagiarism evaluation, using specialized software, of the submitted work.
  • If accepted, the work cannot be reproduced elsewhere or in another language without citing Impossibilia.

All other provisions not expressed in the preceding section will be resolved based on the provisions of the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines.
