This paper intends to bring up some thoughts from a former student of the extinct degree in Social Works, which arose during and after the course. Those thoughts revolve around topics such as: the definition of this discipline and profession; the goals it's set to pursue; issues concerning the relation between theory and practice; or the analysis of several dichotomies always present while developing it. The main purpose is to debate some well established assumptions, not to propose alternatives, but rather to encourage their creation; and allow it to come from personal experience, joining both rational and emotional dimentions.Downloads
