Abstract

This article addresses some of the challenges posed by the application of Organic Law 3/2021, of 24 March, on the regulation of euthanasia, for the intervention of social work professionals. From a quantitative perspective, the general objective of this research is to find out the opinion of social work professionals working in the healthcare context. To this end, a survey of social work professionals was drawn up and administered.  The right to die, regulated by law, is a difficult path with varying degrees of complexity for patients and their families who opt for euthanasia, where training is a key element in making this social right effective. The main conclusions include the need for health institutions to create protocols establishing the work carried out by social health workers in the care of patients and families when making decisions about euthanasia.
