Quality in Social Services and social work: Analysis of the Academic Literature and Spanish Legislation
Main Article Content
Abstract
Quality management is a fundamental priority for institutions seeking to improve the services they provide and the quality of life of citizens. The aim of this research is to analyse the relationship between quality, Social Services and Social Work both in the regulatory field and in the specialised literature. To this end, a review was carried out of the Social Services laws of the Spanish Autonomous Communities and of the specific publications on quality in Social Services in Spain between 2016 and 2022 from a Social Work perspective. Specifically, we searched the Official State Gazette and conducted a keyword search in Dialnet, Web of Science, Scopus and Social Service Abstract. As a result, it was found that in the Spanish Social Services laws, quality is mentioned in some of their articles, generally as a principle. In the literature, it was found that there is a low number of publications that specifically address this issue. In any case, a gradual interest in the improvement of quality management standards in Social Work and in the Social Services system can be perceived. It concludes with contributions to promote quality in the profession and in Social Services.
