Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the specificity of social work intervention in disability —also called today “functional diversity”—based on the experience of professionals with a long history in the area, taking Paraguay as the main context. Disability as a field of professional intervention historically constituted at the international level, and later at the national level requires debates about what should be and the professional being. In this task where theory and practice are in permanent tension. The article expresses a starting point to approach the intervention of social work with its multiple edges in this field so complex and challenging in terms of needs, achievements and achievements.
