Abstract

This paper presents the results of my PhD dissertation. The aim of this empírical research project was to study similarities and differences between bilinguals from outside the world of translation and final year students from the Faculty of Translating and lnterpreting (University of Granada) who had special training in it. Translation process and target texts were analysed in both groups. This study was conducted in an academic setting and all subjects in the investigation carried out translations into their mother tongue (B-A) and into the foreign language (A-B), and the use of translation tools such as dictionaries, Internet and other documentation sources was allowed.
