Abstract

This article is aimed at analysing how translation and its absence may work to reshape the perception of gender dissidence within and outside the practice of translation, analyzing the case of the American queer poets who won the Lambda Literary Award between 2010 and 2020 in the poetry publishing industry of Mexico and Spain. Thus, a common thread will emerge and connect the politics of gender dissidence and the practice of translation, revealing how two realities that share the same language may apply measures of representation in disruptive identities specifically in the genre of poetry and during the second decade of the twenty-first century. In order to achieve this goal, the paper mainly focuses on the United States, as it has been the cradle of queer movements throughout its history.
