“The Saint of Saints of Literary Temple”. About Anagrama and its Consecratory Function

Based on Bourdieu’s contributions, this article proposes some parallels between Anagrama and Gallimard as publishing houses that preserve an avant-garde public image that does not correspond to their current editorial policies. It is concluded that this image of Anagrama obscures the work of small Latin American publishers that are committed to the long-term cycle and the alternative circuit. At the same time, it is discussed Casanova’s claim that world literature would have a more autonomous and innovative character than national literature.
