Paul Legault y su reescritura experimental de Emily Dickinson: exploraciones sobre la paráfrasis en poesía

En este artículo analizamos un reciente y extraño artefacto poético: el libro The Emily Dickinson Reader: An English-to-English Translation of the Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson (2012), de Paul Legault (1985). Este experimento, cuya legitimidad ha sido cuestionada, admite una primera lectura feminista y queer, por el lado de la trama que plantea. Sin embargo, aprovechando que esta obra se presenta a sí misma como una suerte de “traducción imposible” en tanto que “traducción homolingüística”, aquí nos preguntamos por las consecuencias de esta metáfora, la de que las reescrituras son traducciones, y proponemos que todo el libro de Legault está articulado en torno a una pregunta clave en el campo de la teoría lírica: ¿es posible la paráfrasis en poesía?
