The novel Missing: una investigación (2009), marked a milestone in Chilean writer Alberto Fuguet's career and helped him attain both broad recognition and acceptance by the critics. The book has been categorised as autofiction. This paper aims to study whether Missing can be properly considered a work of autofiction, and what would be its place within the literature of the self. The definitions and ideas of Doubrovsky, Lejeune, Alberca and other authors has been used for this purpose. Moreover, this article examines the intertextual connections of the novel with others by the same author.
