The following paper discusses the reception of Jorge Luis Borges shortstories by the Swedish band At the Gates. The influence of the South-American author is made evident in some of the lyrics in the At War with Reality (2014a) album. At the Gates presents a refiguration (Ricoeur, 2009) of the borgesian narrative and creates redescriptions of the plots and the setting. Besides, the lyrics contain intertextual elements (Zavala, 2017) that
are related with the texts of the Latin-American writer. This paper shows a proposal of At the Gates against an imposition of reality that is similar to that in Borges’ work.
