This research aims to treat several philosophical concepts linked to the wester love tradition that Octavio Paz will work throughout his essay works and how these are applied to his poetic theory. That is how there is an absolute correspondence between his love theory and his poetic theory that, ultimately, end up being the same for the author himself. Later we will review these aspects through the poem «Cuerpo a la vista» (1947), which contains many elements of his love theory and despite being prior to El arco y la lira (1956) and much earlier than La llama doble (1993).
