In his work Narciso en el acorde último de las flautas (1979), the Spanish poet Leopoldo María Panero displays all the metaphors of his madness. The childhood images reveal themself mixed with the symbols of the father and the mother, in addition to phantasmagorical visions; in other words, in the work of Panero, the psychoanalytic images about the self and the identity are displayed. In order to study his poetry, the different works of Foucault have been the main reference, besides the studies of Lacan and José María Álvarez and Fernando Colina. The self will reveal itself being something inapprehensible and empty conveyed by the symbols of the eco, the corridor and the death, which Panero used as symbols of anguish and madness in order to reflect on schizophrenia.
