Authorship and Appropriation in the Creation of the 21st Century
Main Article Content
Abstract
ABSTRACT: Appropriatism embodies the current cultural production system where democratization of consumption has led to massive reproduction, cloning and exponential multiplication of cultural products. By questioning notions such as authorship, authenticity and uniquenes of works might be considered heresy, a crime by some or a perceptive concept by others.
This article analyzes its value not only as a necessary reflection of our time but also as the paradoxical situation in which we live, in which under the discourses of appropriation the postmodern purity hides its narcissism, simulating the disappearance of the author, who actually sanctifies through various means, complaining at the bottom of certain excess, of certain democratic debauchery in art.
