Abstract

For years, we have dedicated ourselves to interviewing individuals engaged in the craft of knife-making. As we traveled to diverse regions for other projects, we persistently sought out someone who practiced this trade. At the time, our only aim was to listen extensively to how they experience such an intimate relationship with the manufacture of this object. The knife as an extension of our body. An intrinsic physicality emerges in the union of movements facilitated by a tool that, much like our bodies, evolves in form and function over the course of its life.

Ariadna Rodriguez and Iñaki Alvarez are nyamnyam. Joining their formations and deformations in various disciplines, their work aims to promote creation, diffraction and knowledge exchange through sharing strategies on each g-local context in which they work. In this crossroad of live and visual arts, critical thought and pedagogies, nyamnyam's work moves between the creation of projects and curatorship understood as a transdisciplinary space for relationship and disruption; Thus organisms

(human and non-human), systems, environments and contexts interact through the accompaniment of nyamnyam, clashing with the standardized vision of the commodification of culture. They have developed their practices in a diversity of contexts and geographies, and in 2020 they have opened the doors of Espai nyamnyam, a space for research and creation located in Mieres, Girona (Catalonia, Spain).
