Abstract

The purpose of this article is to know how the native and immigrant students remember and understand the tales of Western and Moroccan cultures told in Spanish, to introduce the work with the stories in an intercultural curriculum. This is an investigation carried out with Spanish students and students of Moroccan origin of primary education, from the area of the west of Almeria province. For the analysis of the activity with the children, the story map (questionnaire) and the grammar of the story (structure) were used to develop reading comprehension. These two strategies also serve to investigate the comprehension and recollection of texts, allow us todevelop an education from an intercultural perspective. Through reading comprehension, and more specifically, reading stories, the values andculture of different countries are known, facilitating and promoting Intercultural Education. Schools can promote intercultural education through the teaching and learning of values, skills, attitudes andknowledge of the different cultures that are present in schools.
