Abstract

This article aims to unite two facts which are not always analyzed together: The Protestant Reformation -a key event in the modern History- and standardization of the Slovenian language –as mainly Primož Trubar’s work. We will argue that the historical context of the Slovenian Reformation had an influence in Slovenian Identity later on. This was an important moment in which the use of Gutenberg’s press allowed the language to spread quickly. In that sense, to think these two processes as part of a broader cultural context, will let us find the relevant elements that lead us to identify language and nation in Slovenia up to the present-day.
