Abstract

The main purpose of the present article is to analyze the traditional Russian mindset in the folklore materials through the prism of a synthetic and interdisciplinary vision. The traditional Russian folkloric mindset is examined in many different semiotic systems: folktales, the epic poetry, proverbs, and contemporary references. The article may serve as a tool to achieve cultural competence in Russian folklore, an integral element in the teaching/learning of Russian language to a Spanish-speaking audience. It can also prove useful in the teaching and practice of translation.
