This essay touches on certain parallelisms between Puerto Rican author Luis Rafael Sánchez’s most recent novel (Indiscreciones de un perro gringo, Alfaguara 2007) and Cervantes’ ‘El coloquio de los perros’ (Novelas ejemplares, 1615). By means of canine narrators, both works expose, criticize and denounce social maladies and general injustices. Despite the geographical and temporal distance that separates them, these dogs condemn the arrogance and nonsense imposed by imperialist powers over their colonies.Downloads
