Abstract

The essay’s topic is taking a deeper look into the direct comparison between Control andUtopia, an essential theme in children’s literature. Control, could seem a foreign word in the deep world of imagination, but, it becomes fundamental in order to analyze the creativity processes, which define the origin of a narration in children’s literature. From a pedagogical point of view, it’s important to understand which kind of connection exists between these two concepts, –Control and Utopia– so intimately related, but even hard to communicate together. Finally, the control is not a censure but is a sophisticated way of conditioning of the quality of children’s book, especially when emergencies and anxieties, because of life’s troubles, menace the utopian desire. Indeed the control tends to domesticate the stories and makes them predictable, easy, simple, reassuring: so domestication ad stereotyped patterns inhibit creative thinking. But the art and the poetics can defeat the control. Especially the fairy tale, the poetry, the theatre, the novel can save the authenticity and the themes through hard, if they know overcame many conventional stereotypes. These areas are able to speak to the children a deep and authentic language: often considered elitist genres, but with a high artistic and pedagogic value, for the special attention for the special attention they pay to the relationship with childhood, so they open the door to Utopia: a mental space open to knowledge.
