Abstract

Following the myth, Medes· s play always ends with the killing ofher own sons as part of the revenge against Jason, companion or husband who rejected her and caused offence by means of iniuria (adikía). This paper to put aside the modero conceptions as to the concep "revenge" and tries to resort to antropology and other disciplines in order to reveal, as far as possible, the meaning of the play in its context.
