This study shows a comprehensive vision of the Mathematics Education at methodological level, using as base the doctoral dissertations (thesis) accomplished in Spanish universities between the years 1976-1998. A central finding of this study has been the design of an evaluation methodological instrument, which will be useful for the future analysis of research. In addition general recommendations are offered with the aim to improve quality of the research in Mathematics Education.Downloads
