Abstract

The main aim of this article is to make an introduction into the history of translation in Russia, covering the period before the 18th century, as to say the Kievan Rus’ and Muscovite historical period, and in the centuries that follow from the 18th century onwards. The 18th century is a remarkable period for the evolution of translation, as we speak about the reign of Peter the Great and Catherine II the Great. This article ends up with the review of the 19th century and highlights the most important progresses made in the field of translation in Russia.
