Abstract

This article centres on the image of Alexey Turbin, one of the main characters of “The White Guard” and “Turbins’ Days” by M. Bulgakov. Turbin is an embodiment of chivalry, and the theme of chivalry determines the structure of both works and stands in close relation to the issue of human cosmization. “Truth” and “falsehood”, chivalry and its absence become manifest in moments of crisis, owing to the realization of archaic ideas.
